WE FED THE HUNGRY AND NOURISHED SOULS

Cross Catholic Outreach combats malnutrition by working directly with local Catholic priests, nuns and lay leaders whose parish feeding programs serve impoverished children and families in Jesus’ name.

In 2016, we donated food supplies and funded nutrition costs for poverty relief projects to dioceses in 16 countries. This support included cash grants to 31 projects, plus shipments of Vitafood to 27 trusted mission partners. These programs met the immediate nutritional needs of the poor while playing a vital role in the Church’s efforts to holistically nourish bodies, minds and souls.

For example, in Ecuador we helped the Working Boys’ Center provide daily meals to impoverished young children, and in Guyana, we provided monthly food hampers to needy families.

WORKING BOYS’ CENTER – PROJECT 0709 – ECUADOR

Many families in Ecuador are so poor they depend on their children to work, just so they can afford to eat. Since the children work all day, they don’t have the opportunity to go to school. In 2016, we helped the Working Boys’ Center fill the gap by providing meals to 198 young children. By providing food, the children have the opportunity to receive an education, job training and Catholic formation.
