None of the stories reported on the nightly news do enough to capture the true gravity of the drought and famine now impacting Africa. Children and families are suffering there, and the situation is quickly becoming catastrophic!

United Nations officials believe this may soon become "the largest humanitarian crisis since the creation of the UN" (in 1945). "Without collective and coordinated global efforts, people will simply starve to death. Many more will suffer and die from disease," according to the UN Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs Stephen O'Brien. Read more.

As the drought triggers severe famine, the threat of starvation looms over frightened children and families.

In response, Fathers Fabian, Francis, and John Fortune and other Africa-based partners of Cross Catholic Outreach are sending out urgent calls for helpand we believe Christ is calling upon all of us to respond!

Please – help Cross Catholic Outreach equip and empower Catholic parishes and ministries to serve as Christ's hands and feet among the suffering families in Africa.

You have the power to be an instrument of God's mercy. Every gift, large or small, is important and will have an impact at this desperate time.

This is Simpiri Susaika in Kenya. When we asked him when was the last time he had a meal, his answer was 3 days ago. For some, time between meals can be as long as 5 days.

Proceeds from this campaign will be used to cover any expenditures for the ministry’s Africa Drought relief efforts incurred through June 30, 2018, the close of our ministry’s new fiscal year. If project costs extend into next fiscal year or beyond, sufficient funds from this campaign will be carried over to cover those expenses. In the event that more funds are raised than needed to fully fund the Africa drought relief effort, the excess funds, if any, will be used to meet the most urgent needs of the ministry.
