Among the poor in Mozambique, the HIV/AIDS pandemic has left a
devastating trail of orphans and single-parent households. The
Missionary Sisters of the Precious Blood have set up a combined
kindergarten/day care center/after school program to meet the
nutritional, educational, health, and emotional needs of orphaned and
vulnerable children ages 3 to 17, so they can escape the cycle of
poverty. The kids get tutoring, eat daily meals, learn Catholic moral
values, and are monitored by a health care worker. The Children’s
Center relies on Cross Catholic to provide funding for food, clothing,
blankets, medical needs, transportation, soap, and other important
supplies.
