If Kwashiorkor, a severe protein deficiency, is left untreated,
children starve to death. At Haitian Health Foundation’s Kwashiorkor
Treatment Center, starving children are rescued and nursed back to
health. Mothers stay with their children at the center and participate
in their children’s treatment, so the problem won’t recur once they
return to their villages.
