Outreach to Africa

Region of Africa

World poverty cannot be addressed without considering Africa. About 50 countries comprise the huge continent—34 of which rank among the world's "Least Developed Countries." Measures of their extreme poverty include meager income, illiteracy, malnutrition, and infant mortality, to name a few. The AIDS pandemic sweeping across Africa kills wage earners as well as family and community leaders, leaving millions of orphans in its wake each year.

Cross International Catholic Outreach partners with churches in several African nations to help victims of extreme poverty. These churches are often as poor as the people they serve; but with the support of Cross, they lovingly care for orphans and vulnerable children, provide food, water, education and medical care, and administer micro-enterprise programs to help families break out of their poverty.

Though performers hold concerts and governments hold summits, our daily lives are simply not confronted by the despair, hopelessness and death multitudes of Africans suffer each moment. Cross strives to make American Christians aware of the extreme poverty God's children suffer around the world—especially in Africa

Please pray for the people of Africa living with crushing poverty. And please consider getting involved by donating toward projects in Africa. It is through the gifts of caring Christians that Cross gives hope to the poorest of the poor in Africa.
