Clergy and Diocesan Relations Department coordinates the relationships between the various dioceses in the United States and throughout the World with the work of Cross International Catholic Outreach. CDR works directly with the Bishops in the United States to coordinate efforts in the Dioceses and parishes in the US with the projects and visits of Outreach Preachers to the various dioceses. CDR directs personal meetings with individual Bishops and also participates in Episcopal Ordinations and Installations. Besides opening up a dialogue with the Bishops, CDR works with dioceses that have mission outreaches themselves and serves as a conduit for their own mission efforts.
In order to help make the clergy aware of the work of Cross, CDR organizes visits to seminaries in the US in order to inform future priests of the ministry. Seminarians also have the opportunity to become more involved directly with the work of Cross by signing up to receive ongoing updates. The newsletter, CrossRoads is a publication of Cross which highlights the work of the ministry and the support we receive through parish projects and endorsements of the many Bishops in the US.
CDR also networks with the pastors by encouraging deanery presentations so that local pastors who might have hosted an Outreach Preacher from Cross can inform other pastors in his deanery about the work of Cross and the opportunities available to them.
Within the greater Catholic Church, CDR also oversees the relationship with the Pontifical Council Cor Unum, the Holy Father's Developing World Outreach. It is through these relationships that Cross International Catholic Outreach develops a stronger relationship between the Church in the First World and the suffering Church in the Third World and is better able to bring the two together in mutual assistance. By facilitating such a rapport, CDR enables Cross International Catholic Outreach to be a significant part of the missionary work of the Catholic Church in the World today.
