“No Room at the Inn”
An Advent Ministry

Old houses in the slums of the Philippines.

Mary and Joseph depended on the innkeeper's kindness for the humble shelter of Jesus' birth; and during his adult ministry, Jesus relied on the hospitality of believers for a place to lay his head. Today, more than 1 billion families around the world live in appalling conditions, while 100 million people have no home at all. And Jesus still counts on his followers to extend them kindness, help - and shelter. This Advent season, Cross International Catholic Outreach invites you and your parish to partner with us to provide homes for impoverished families who most desperately need them. "No Room at the Inn" is a special outreach that allows parish ministries, schools, and religious education groups to sponsor the construction of basic homes for needy families who would otherwise live under cardboard boxes, in leaky mud huts, or in makeshift shacks in deplorable slums at the mercy of weather, danger, and disease. "No Room at the Inn" offers a way for your parish family to impart God's love in action - a true Christmas blessing!

New houses in the slums of the Philippines.

The need is urgent... and growing.  The poor in developing countries are too destitute to live anywhere else or to build anything better. This year, the number of people living in urban slums reached the 1 billion mark. Countless others in remote, rural areas live in inadequate housing; and more than 100 million have no home at all.  The number of people needing a safe, sturdy house is growing by about 21 million each year.
