Cross International Alliance hosting Give Hope to Others Dinner, raising funds, providing water to impoverished Nicaraguans.

Marietta, GA (Oct. 5, 2011) — Cross International Alliance, the ecumenical Christian relief and development partnership between Cross International and Cross Catholic Outreach, will host the Give Hope to Others (H2O) Dinner October 29, 2011 at the home of Darrell and Nora Borne.

The goal of this event is to raise $120,000 to help provide 14 communities and 1,054 families in rural Nicaragua with clean drinking water by building traditional and solar-powered well systems.

In partnership with the Nicaraguan Ministry Amigos for Christ, Cross International Alliance is committed to helping impoverished Nicaraguans receive clean water that they otherwise would have no chance of receiving.

“The need for clean, fresh water in Nicaragua is immense.  It’s such a basic necessity yet there are so many people without it. We saw the H2O Dinner as a way to actively get involved and help people get the water they need to survive,” said Darrell Borne, event chairman.

In Nicaragua, the poorest country in Central America, 48 percent of people live under the poverty level earning less that $2 per day. From their meager earnings, most families are forced to spend up to 40 percent of their income on water.

“We see the need these people have for clean water and it breaks our hearts. We knew as soon as we found out about this problem that we needed to help in any way we could,” said Jim Cavnar, President of Cross International Alliance.

“The H2O Dinner is a perfect opportunity to provide clean water to people who would otherwise face life threatening disease and sickness using unsafe and unclean water,” said Mr. Cavnar.

The H2O Dinner will include a silent auction and raffle. Corporations or individual donors can pledge additional sponsorship gifts toward the project ranging from $1,000 to $25,000. All proceeds will go directly to building traditional and solar-powered well systems in rural Nicaraguan communities.
