Kerry Ann’s faith brought her comfort after her home was impacted by Hurricane Melissa.

Share Christ’s Mercy With Those in Deepest Need

The Corporal Works of Mercy call us to honor Christ by serving our sisters and brothers in need. In Matthew 25:35, Jesus indicates that every time we feed the hungry or give drink to the thirsty, we are serving him directly. The 2026 Annual Fund Drive offers you a special opportunity to share in that holy privilege.

Kerry Ann was one of many young mothers who didn’t just witness the aftermath of Hurricane Melissa — she lived it. Huddled closely with her children, clutching her newborn baby in her arms, she and her family did the best they could to weather the storm.

Once the worst had passed, Kerry Ann remained filled with anxiety as she pieced their life back together. Determined to keep her children safe and dry, she used metal scraps and tarps to create a makeshift roof. Thanks to support from U.S. Catholics, we were able to provide sturdy metal roofing panels to improve Kerry Ann’s home and protect her family. Her prayers for stable housing have been answered!

Kerry Ann spoke through tears, saying someday she will be able to tell her daughter, “The Lord gave us this roof.”
