Delivering food, shelter, and hope to the poorest of the poor
When I talk to nuns and priests overseas who spend their lives ministering to the poor, I often wonder what makes them tick.
I especially wondered that about Sr. Mary Peter. She runs St. Ann’s Home in Georgetown Guyana, which used to be a traditional orphanage for girls but is now a home mostly for wards of the state. And her wards come from very disturbing circumstances. They require a lot of patience, a lot of direction, and a lot of unconditional love.
So I popped the question, “What inspires you to keep going?” Her answer: “It’s what God wants, I enjoy it, and I have fun!”
When God handpicked Sr. Mary Peter for this special assignment, it’s obvious he knew what he was doing!
