Delivering food, shelter, and hope to the poorest of the poor
See what love the Father has given us, that we should be called children of God; and that is what we are.– 1 John 3:1
St. Vincent de Paul Orphanage in Ecuador rescues abandoned babies and provides around-the-clock care.
Throughout the Bible, God makes it clear that orphans hold a special place in his heart, commanding his people to protect and care for the outcast and fatherless. In fact, the book of James reveals: “Religion that is pure and undefiled before God, the Father, is this: to care for orphans and widows in their distress, and to keep oneself unstained by the world” (James 1:27).
Since orphans hold a special place in the God’s Kingdom, we Catholics should look after these children as if they are our own.
On World Orphan Day, Cross Catholic Outreach would like to thank our ministry partners around the globe who are following God’s command to care for the fatherless. These priests, nuns and Catholic lay leaders provide children with shelter, education and a loving family environment.
Caring for the world’s orphans is a big job, but when we come together as the Body of Christ, we can move mountains!
