Delivering food, shelter, and hope to the poorest of the poor
The death toll from Guatemala’s Fuego volcano is at 112 and counting as the search continues for nearly 200 people who have still not been found. The powerful eruption swallowed entire communities, produced many orphans and homeless, and negatively impacted a total of more than 1.7 million Guatemalans.
How Cross Catholic Outreach is making an impact
We have partnered with our sister organization, Cross Catholic Outreach, to bring emergency aid and compassion to Fuego’s traumatized victims. Since the eruption, our efforts have allowed relief workers in the area to supply survivors with 27,000 doses of antibiotics, 6,000 tubes of burn cream and 180,000 meals. We are currently raising funds to send an additional 40-foot shipping container full of Vitafood and to give displaced families sturdy new homes. This is an evolving situation, and we ask for your prayers as we continue to monitor the affected communities and determine their greatest needs.
Our mission is to mobilize the global Catholic Church to transform the poor and their communities materially and spiritually for the glory of Jesus Christ. Your gift empowers us to serve the poorest of the poor by channeling life-changing aid through an international network of dioceses, parishes and Catholic missionaries. This cost-effective approach helps break the cycle of poverty and advance Catholic evangelization.
