Scripture Reading: Luke 19:28-40
Jesus’ Triumphal Entry into Jerusalem marks the beginning of Holy Week.
The people who cried “Hosanna!” would shout “Crucify him!” a few days later. In your life, do you praise God one moment and sin in the next minute? Examine your heart, ask for forgiveness, and pray for the Lord’s help in worshiping him in all your words and actions.
So that at the name of Jesus every knee should bend, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
Garments of Praise
In the spirit of sacrifice, families will do some spring cleaning and sort through their closets. Have everyone identify a few items of clothing they are willing to part with, and then sell these items to a local consignment store. This activity teaches children to give selflessly. It also symbolizes the exchange of old things for brand new garments of praise!
An estimated 140 million children have lost one parent or both parents. (UNICEF, 2015)
God, we come to you right now asking for protection for the millions of vulnerable children struggling to survive in the streets. Put a hedge of protection around them and keep them safe from exploitation and violence. Give them hope for the future and comfort in knowing that you will never leave or forsake them. We ask this in Jesus’ precious name. Amen.
