Delivering food, shelter, and hope to the poorest of the poor
Cross Catholic Outreach responded to the devastation caused by two major hurricanes on the southeast coast recently by supporting the Diocese of Raleigh and the Diocese of Charleston after Hurricane Florence, and the Diocese of Pensacola-Tallahassee after Hurricane Michael.
Cross Catholic Outreach donated $10,000 to the Catholic Charities of each diocese directly through the office of Bishop Zarama of Raleigh, Bishop Guglielmone of Charleston and Bishop Wack of Pensacola-Tallahassee.
The donation to the Diocese of Pensacola-Tallahassee was used to repair roofs within the diocese. At the Diocese of Charleston, our donation went to relief supplies such as food, hygiene and baby items. Bishop Zarama applied the funds to food and other supplies for those in need.
On the West Coast, after the Camp Fire in the Diocese of Sacramento, Cross Catholic Outreach supported Bishop Jamie Soto and the diocese’s Fire Relief Fund. While our mission at Cross Catholic Outreach is to help the poorest of the poor in the developing world, there are times when we support our brothers and sisters here in the U.S. It reflects our union of the whole Catholic Church in being responsive to the greatest needs in our midst.
Our mission is to mobilize the global Catholic Church to transform the poor and their communities materially and spiritually for the glory of Jesus Christ. Your gift empowers us to serve the poorest of the poor by channeling life-changing aid through an international network of dioceses, parishes and Catholic missionaries. This cost-effective approach helps break the cycle of poverty and advance Catholic evangelization.
