Delivering food, shelter, and hope to the poorest of the poor
Cross Catholic Outreach celebrated its seventh annual Day of Prayer on Friday, Aug. 13, ahead of the Feast of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary. On this day, staff joined together in prayer to intercede for the specific intentions of our donors, our ministry partners and the poor.
Mass was offered on two continents! Cardinal Peter Turkson celebrated from the Vatican, and Cross Catholic Outreach’s own Father Dave Caron, OP, presided over Mass — with several Outreach Priests concelebrating — at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church in Deerfield Beach. Day of Prayer has a special place in our hearts. This year, we added a Marian theme from Luke 1:46: “My Soul Magnifies the Lord.” We plan to continue this practice each year to help us focus on our great spiritual mother and heavenly advocate who has taught us by example to “do whatever he tells you” (John 2:5).
Our mission is to mobilize the global Catholic Church to transform the poor and their communities materially and spiritually for the glory of Jesus Christ. Your gift empowers us to serve the poorest of the poor by channeling life-changing aid through an international network of dioceses, parishes and Catholic missionaries. This cost-effective approach helps break the cycle of poverty and advance Catholic evangelization.
