Delivering food, shelter, and hope to the poorest of the poor
How can we quantify Cross Catholic Outreach’s impact on the lives of our poorest brothers and sisters over these past two decades?
As much as we seek hard numbers — and rightfully celebrate each of those successes — we know the Corporal Works of Mercy deliver much more than can ever be measured here on Earth. I say that because I firmly believe this ministry is changing the lives of future generations around the world and shepherding many souls to heaven.
On behalf of the board of directors, I offer my deepest gratitude to everyone who has played a role in Cross Catholic Outreach’s 20 years of service to the poor. I am especially grateful for the many friends who have stood boldly against global poverty during the COVID-19 pandemic to “give graciously to all the living” (Sirach 7:33).
In the days of social distancing, Cross Catholic Outreach dared to extend the Lord’s compassion to those on the periphery of society — the hungry, the thirsty, the homeless and the sick. Our one Body in Christ is stronger today thanks to this steadfast commitment to lift up an entire generation both overseas and close to home.
I congratulate the priests and lay staff members who work in the Lord’s vineyard on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the ministry. May the Lord bless you all who love and serve the poor.
Sincerely in Christ,
Most Reverend Ronald W. Gainer
