Delivering food, shelter, and hope to the poorest of the poor
Archbishop Mitchell T. Rozanski has served on its board of directors since 2021
BOCA RATON, Fla. – June 14, 2023 – Cross Catholic Outreach announces the election of Archbishop Mitchell T. Rozanski of St. Louis as chairman of its board of directors. Jim Cavnar, CEO, and Michele Sagarino, president, made the following joint statement today:
“The four other archbishops and bishops unanimously elected Archbishop Rozanski to lead as our board’s chairman, and they are all united by our mission to transform the poor and their communities materially and spiritually for the glory of Jesus Christ. Fittingly, Archbishop Rozanski’s personal motto is to ‘serve the Lord with gladness,’ in the spirit of the 100th Psalm. We pray that his service to God and the poor will inspire American Catholics to join us in this important mission.”
Rozanski’s election took place during a June 6 board meeting following the retirement of the previous chairman, Bishop Emeritus Ronald W. Gainer of the Diocese of Harrisburg.
Rozanski was ordained a priest for the Archdiocese of Baltimore in 1984 and served as Auxiliary Bishop of Baltimore and Bishop of Springfield, Massachusetts. In 2020, he was installed as the Archbishop of St. Louis and soon endorsed Cross Catholic Outreach, writing: “In accord with Catholic social teaching, Cross Catholic [Outreach] answers the call of serving the poor through your collaboration with the Dicastery for Promoting Integral Human Development. Your model of working through Catholic missionaries around the world and with the support of their local bishop shows great collaboration with the Universal Catholic Church.”
