A Message From Our President

A headshot of a smiling woman with blonde hair and a coral colored shirt. When the Lord brought me to Cross Catholic Outreach in 2004, I fell in love with its mission and vision — particularly its commitment to empowering the existing Catholic programs and leaders working to bless the poor around the world. Since then, I have been awed by how the Holy Spirit has expanded our impact, fueled by the amazing support of our beautiful donors, strengthened by our special relationship with the Vatican and honored by the endorsements of more than 100 U.S. bishops.

All I can say is, God is good!

As our mission has expanded — blessing the poor in more than 90 countries with some $4 billion in aid over the years — we have discovered new areas of service, learned to adapt to new challenges and taken on new capabilities. This journey has been a team effort, and I have been especially grateful for the leadership provided by our co-founder, Jim Cavnar, whose faith and wisdom have enabled us to prayerfully and successfully navigate these changes.

That support was essential in the 2023 fiscal year because we went through several big transitions. Following a challenging period in which pandemic restrictions had limited our ability to connect with our partners  and fully implement programs critical to the poor, we successfully increased our global travel to pre-2020 levels.

We also restructured our executive team to be more effective in pursuing the next decade’s objectives, and we did this while keeping our fundraising and administrative expenses below 6% of total revenue. I was honored and humbled at that time to accept the role of Cross Catholic Outreach’s president, succeeding Jim who continues to serve as our CEO and as a board member.

Of course, our mission and vision remain the same, and we continue to pursue the material and spiritual transformation of the poor and their communities with the same passion and for the same reason — to glorify our Lord, Jesus Christ. As you will see in this report, so many lives have been touched in profound ways by this outpouring of God’s love.

I hope and pray you are as excited as we are to see what the future will bring as we continue our support of the Church and its works of mercy. So many are still in urgent need of food, water, medicine, shelter, disaster relief and other aid, and only through our compassionate actions — serving as the hands and feet of Christ — will those struggling families and communities receive the help they need.

This is our opportunity to join as a community, come alongside our brothers and sisters in Christ, glorify the Lord, and play a role in the incredible transformation of lives taking place in the developing world through the work of the Church!

Proceeds from this campaign will be used to cover any expenditures incurred through June 30, 2024, the close of our ministry’s fiscal year. In the event that more funds are raised than needed to fully fund the project, the excess funds, if any, will be used to meet the most urgent needs of the ministry.
