Light on a Knight – May 2024

This month, Cross Catholic Outreach proudly features Mike Stranger as May’s “Light on a Knight.” A member of Council No. 12191 in Berkley Springs, West Virginia, Mike is well known for his passion for feeding the poor. Since 2018, when Knights in his home state launched their first food packing event with Cross Catholic Outreach, the West Virginia State Deputy has volunteered at nearly all 10 events — helping pack over 621,000 meals!

“How many of you have ever been hungry? Not just for lunch or dinner, but with a hunger that makes your stomach hurt?” Mike asked volunteers at WV Knights’ most recent food packing event. “Now, try feeling that hunger for at least two days so you can experience what it’s like for those people who we are feeding today. That is why it is so important to feed the poor through this event that involves charity, unity and fraternity.”

We are inspired by Mike’s conviction to put his faith into action. His commitment to feed the hungry and invite his brother Knights to join him in that mission of mercy is a godsend to the poor communities we serve. Thank you, Mike!
