A light is rising from the darkness in rural Haiti, and the generosity of U.S. Catholics is playing an important role in building that brighter future! Parishioners in this country have been so passionate about supporting Catholic education in Haiti that the Kobonal Mission School has been able to expand its programs, enriching the lives of young people eager to use the talents God has given them to help others.
For the first time, this outreach of the Kobonal Haiti Mission has built new classrooms for seventh and eighth graders as it grows beyond the sixth-grade level. This past school year, the first class of 136 seventh graders passed their exams and is now attending eighth-grade classes. The final year of the three-year expansion will provide ninth-grade classes. To Kobonal’s parents — many of whom struggle to make ends meet as subsistence farmers — this school expansion is an answer to prayer. Previously, many children left school after sixth grade because other schools were too costly or too far away to walk to.
In addition to the school expansion, the compassion of U.S. Catholics enabled the Kobonal Haiti Mission to recently repair five existing wells and build three new wells in poor communities throughout the region — blessing 2,596 lives with clean water!
These acts of compassion have been a godsend to children and their families during this especially challenging season in Haiti — and that’s an achievement we want to celebrate for the glory of God!

Donations from this campaign will be used to cover any expenditures for this project incurred through June 30, 2027, the close of our ministry’s fiscal year. In the event that more funds are raised than needed to fully fund the project, the excess funds, if any, will be used to meet the most urgent needs of the ministry.
