On Sept. 27, Knight Michael Daigle, a Third Order Carmelite, led the 13th Annual Cross Walk, a spiritual formation and fundraising event in Forest City, NC. Each year, the Immaculate Conception Church parishioners form a procession and carry large crosses down Main Street. This year, proceeds from the event will be donated to Cross Catholic Outreach.
“The event is also used as a mini pilgrimage, penance, prayer, fundraising and as a celebration of religious liberties,” Michael said. “The experience is ethereal, a loud witness and a bold proclamation for their faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, as you see a line of the faithful fully engaged in prayer and carrying these life-sized crosses.”
Over the years, the event has raised money for charities such as local and foreign missions, crisis pregnancy centers, seminarians, MiraVia and the LAMB program.
