Delivering food, shelter, and hope to the poorest of the poor
Cross Catholic Outreach believes we must address immediate needs for food and seek ways to heal bodies already effected by severe malnutrition. By funding global feeding programs and shipping hearty meals for the hungry, our donors save lives and nourish souls. This provision also frees impoverished families to apply their limited resources toward other necessities, such as sending their sons and daughters to school.
In 2018, we donated food supplies and funded nutrition costs for poverty relief projects to dioceses in 17 countries. This support included cash grants to 32 projects and shipments of Vitafood to 24 trusted mission partners. These programs met the immediate nutritional needs of the poor while playing a vital role in the Church’s efforts to holistically nourish bodies, minds and souls.
For example, in Guatemala, we helped Misioneros del Camino provide daily meals to impoverished young children, and in Kenya, we provided daily meals to Maasai children at Baraka Catholic Kindergarten.

In 2018, Cross Catholic Outreach provided daily meals for 215 children at Baraka Catholic Kindergarten in Ewuaso Kedong, Kenya. A severe drought recently devastated families of the Maasai tribe, who rely on their livestock for nourishment and income — and meals at the school became a lifeline for poor families. These children not only received nourishment for their bodies, but they received a quality education rooted in Catholic teaching and values.
