Delivering food, shelter, and hope to the poorest of the poor
Your gift will bless children like Leticia, a 17-year-old student in Ghana, with a safe place to receive a Catholic education!
Ask any Catholic missionary, “What is the key to overcoming poverty?” and you’ll hear the same answer over and over: educate the children.
Unfortunately, this basic need is rarely met for children in countries like Ghana, where more than one-quarter of females over age 15 have not learned to read or write (CIA World Factbook).
That is why Cross Catholic Outreach is collaborating with Catholic dioceses around the world to build schools, fund teacher salaries, and provide desks, school supplies, books and so much more.
Students learn beneath a thatch-covered awning outside of a chapel. Your gift can help us build new, safe classrooms in countries like Ghana!
In countries like Ghana, some schools lack clean water or proper bathrooms for their students and teachers to use.
Leticia Faawono, pictured, is a bright student in the community of Tambaare. She expressed how these deficiencies make it difficult for young scholars to stay motivated.
“In my school, we don’t have anything — not even a building. We don’t have teachers’ quarters. We don’t have an office. We don’t have a toilet. We don’t have anything that will show it is a school.”
In Leticia’s village, students either learn outside beneath a feeble awning or sit inside the local chapel — a broken down building with a hole-ridden roof that always leaks when it rains. Leticia recognizes the value of education, and she dreams of becoming a teacher herself someday. But with so many challenges and distractions, students struggle to make it through each uncomfortable and chaotic school day.

Proceeds from this campaign will be used to cover any expenditures incurred through June 30, 2024, the close of our ministry’s fiscal year. In the event that more funds are raised than needed to fully fund the project, the excess funds, if any, will be used to meet the most urgent needs of the ministry.
