The United Nations reported that about 820 million people did not have enough to eat in 2018. This was an 8-million-person increase from the previous year… and that was before the pandemic.
In many developing countries around the world, extreme hunger is on the rise. Hardships caused by COVID-19 — as well as natural disasters, economic turmoil and other trials — have deepened an already devastating hunger crisis, bringing some families to the brink of starvation.
Mothers like Chrisline Jeanty in Haiti are struggling to feed their children even one meal each day. These hardships are stealing the hope of poor families and threatening their future. Fortunately, the Church is aware of their challenges and can restore their strength — with your help. Stand with Cross Catholic Outreach to empower ministry partners such as the Haitian Resource Development Foundation, and reach suffering communities with lifesaving meals.
A generous gift of $5,000 will help feed hungry people around the world — but any amount will make an incredible impact!
The World Food Programme and the Food and Agriculture Organization recently released a joint report on 20 “hunger hotspots” around the world — nations where the hunger crisis is likely to intensify even further. Haiti was ninth on that list, with nearly half its people expected to experience food insecurity this year.
Sadly, this terrible news wasn’t surprising. Haiti has one of the highest levels of food insecurity in the world, with 4.4 million people facing hunger. Its hunger crisis has been exacerbated by economic instability, turmoil and repeated natural disasters — including a 7.2 magnitude earthquake in 2021. Haiti’s people urgently need nutritious food and an outpouring of Catholic compassion.
In times like these, it is critical for us to have reliable partners like the Haitian Resource Development Foundation (HRDF). For years, HRDF has sought to empower Haiti’s people by improving access to resources such as health care, disaster relief items, education, economic opportunities and — of course — food. In the wake of the 2021 earthquake, for example, HRDF helped us distribute meal packs, medical supplies and tarps to provide shelter for storm survivors.
Ministry partners such as HRDF have the heart and knowledge to bless the families in their regions — but they often lack the resources to meet the extreme need. That’s where you come in. When you donate to relieve world hunger through Cross Catholic Outreach, you strengthen Catholic ministries in developing nations in two important ways:
Financial support helps our ministry partners purchase resources, facilitate feeding programs and distribute food to remote communities. Fund critical feeding ministries in Christ’s name!
Nutrient-rich Vitafood is specially formulated to meet the needs of the malnourished. Cover shipping costs to help these hearty meal packs reach the hungry!
For I was hungry and you gave me food. – Matthew 25:35
Vitafood is the generic name for all of Cross Catholic Outreach’s specially formulated meal packs, which are designed to energize, strengthen and improve the health of malnourished people. Each meal pack contains:
Each Vitafood meal costs 15 cents to ship, so six meals ship for every $1! This cost-effective method for feeding the poor represents just one way that your gift can bless the hungry through Cross Catholic Outreach. Learn more about how we source, ship and distribute Vitafood on our blog.
When you support our feeding fund, you strengthen global feeding programs with finances as well as shipments of Vitafood. Many growing children, expectant mothers, senior citizens and hungry families rely on this important provision!
Chrisline Jeanty is a mother of five. She and her husband strive to support their family, but often the only work they can find is selling coal. Still, they do what they can to put food on the table. On many days, the family can only afford to eat one small meal.
“We eat figs and yams,” Chrisline said. “That’s all we have.”
Help feed hungry families like Chrisline’s.

Lude’s daughter is growing stronger with proper nourishment.
Lude Pierre, 22, is a single mother struggling to provide for her daughter. Her baby was malnourished, and Lude felt she had nowhere to turn for help.
Through our ministry partners in Haiti, Lude’s daughter is receiving much-needed nutrition — but many more children remain in dire need!
Nourish hungry children in Christ’s name.

Proceeds from this campaign will be used to cover any expenditures incurred through June 30, 2023, the close of our ministry’s fiscal year. In the event that more funds are raised than needed to fully fund the project, the excess funds, if any, will be used to meet the most urgent needs of the ministry.
When you include Cross Catholic Outreach as a beneficiary in your will, trust, retirement account or life insurance policy, you will make a difference for poor communities by meeting both material and spiritual needs for generations to come. Create Your Legacy!
