Corporate Relations Officer, Gifts-in-Kind


Gifts-in-Kind (GIK)

Reports To:

Vice President Gifts-in-Kind & Program Strategy

Position Summary:

The CRO is responsible for planning, securing and following through on the acquisition of Gifts-in-Kind (GIK) to support of Missions and Programming needs. The purpose of the role is to identify potential donors, develop relationships and acquire valuable donations at the local, regional and national levels.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Work with the Vice President (VP) and other GIK team members to procure needed GIK from other NGOs, corporations or other identified prospects.
  • Research opportunities and develops relationships with existing and new donor prospects required to support our growing field-based demand for needed supplies and supplies needed for emergency response.
  • Create strategies with specific action plans to achieve individual product sector GIK and revenue goals.
  • Conduct systematic and ongoing prospecting activities to maintain an adequate pipeline for potential donors.
  • Ensure Master Donor File forms and documents are complete and compliant.
  • Ensure Donor GIK applications are completed and all necessary donor reporting/feedback provided.
  • Develop personal relationships with senior managers and executives in other non-profit organizations.
  • Write compelling proposals and develop presentations and reports.
  • Effectively manage resources including all travel expenses.
  • Discharge duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Require/Preferred:

  • Demonstrates a sense of urgency, attention to detail and follow up.
  • Comfortable identifying potential targets, creating plans to engage the appropriate people at those organizations and closing.
  • Thrives in a fast paced environment and managing a number of projects and activities simultaneously.
  • The ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects with variable deadlines.
  • Intermediate to advanced MS Office suite (Word, Power Point, Excel, Outlook) skills.
  • Ability to work well in team environments in person or remotely.
  • Position requires approximately 25% travel, in the U.S. and abroad.

Experience Requirements:

  • At least five (5) years’ work experience in GIK solicitation or fundraising/sales.
  • Experience in fundraising for GIK and non-profit experience is preferred.
  • Knowledge of donor/sales reporting and Relational “moves management” methodologies.
  • Knowledge and experience with proposal writing and in-person presentation experience.
  • Excellent social, interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to interact with culturally diverse staff.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, presentation skills, analytical, persuasion and skills.
  • Ability to network and form partnerships with organizations and NGO/business entities externally, representing GIK to a broad range of current and potential partners/donors.
  • Must be eligible to work in the United States.

Education or Certification Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent.
  • Fluency in Spanish.
