IT Help Desk | Junior Systems Administrator

Position Summary:

Cross Catholic Outreach is currently hiring a Help Desk/Junior System Administrator to join our organization. Candidates should have a combination of minimum of 3 years’ experience with IT help desk and Windows systems administration. The IT Help Desk / Junior Systems Administrator is responsible for providing technical support and assistance to our remote and on-site employees. You interact with employees by phone or in-person to help resolve any computer or software related issues they may have. The IT Help Desk / Junior Systems Administrator will also be responsible for assisting the Senior Systems Administrator with the day-to-day administration of the organizations information system. The candidate should be task oriented and have excellent time management skills. The IT Help Desk / Junior Systems administrator typically works a standard 40-hour week; however, they may be required to work overtime during periods of high demand or when deadlines are approaching.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Troubleshooting hardware, software, and peripheral equipment for on-site and remote employees
  • Install, configure, and update software
  • Assist in coordinating audio visual setups and videoconferencing support
  • Configure and deploy Information Technology resources, which includes but is not limited to desktops, laptops, printers, plotters, and mobile devices
  • Install, configuration, update, secure and maintenance of Windows Server 2016 and above
  • Installation, configuration, updating, securing, and maintenance of VMware Sphere and VCenter 7 and above, virtualization technologies and concepts
  • Installation, configuration, updating, and maintenance of Dell PowerEdge server and hardware peripherals
  • Installation, configuration, updating, and maintenance of Dell EqualLogic PS6610 SAN and related technologies and concepts

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Require/Preferred:

  • Is a consistent witness for Jesus Christ; maintains a courteous, Christ-like attitude in dealing with people within and outside of Cross
  • Advanced degree preferred in a relevant field from an accredited university or experience equivalent
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Azure, network fundamentals, and Microsoft Windows Server, Active Directory, DHCP, DNS, and desktop operating systems
  • Knowledge of Server Virtualization Concepts and best practices
  • Working knowledge and thorough understanding of testing, analyses and corrective action on systems, networks, hardware, and software in a secure environment
  • Backup, restore and disaster recovery concepts
  • Anti-Virus, Malware, Email security technologies and concepts
  • Ability to work both independently and in a team environment while following departmental policies and procedures
  • Skilled in time management and is task oriented
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to effectively multi-task
  • Excellent communications skills
  • Documentation of trouble shooting solutions and the configuration of systems’ hardware and software
  • Documenting all changes of existing systems to the appropriate change management logs
  • Occasionally required to stand, walk, and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
  • Must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds

  • Some Linux command line
  • JetStor DASD hard knowledge is a plus
  • Quest Rapid Recovery backup software is a plus
  • Barracuda Gateway Defense (email security) is a plus

Education or Certification Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Information technology with 3 years of Microsoft Server Administration and help desk support, or a combination of education / experience
  • Microsoft certifications preferred
