Senior Grants Coordinator

Position Summary:

The Senior Grants Coordinator (SGC) manages the entire grants process by leading teammates throughout the life cycle of each grant, ensuring a smooth workflow from prospecting to planning; writing and submitting; monitoring, evaluation and reporting. The SGC also oversees prospect research and works with the Director to diversify and enhance funding models, facilitate the introduction of new grant prospects into the grant writing rotation schedule and develop a sustainable and effective grants portfolio for the Missions Expansion deparment.

The SGC will also assist in expanding the mission of CCO, reaching out to new and existing global project partners and providing enhanced opportunities to expand their grant-sponsored humanitarian activities. This will require periodic travel to various countries, along with direct communication with aid programs in the field, particularly Latin America, the Caribbean and Africa. It is very important that the SGC develops excellent working relationships with the Project, Material Aid, Development and Marketing staff and has an open, collaborative approach to working with International Project Officers (IPOs) and other peers. The SGC will also develop relationships with funders and serve as the intermediary between the funder, the IPO and the international partner.

The SGC will lead a team of grants professionals who will each be responsible for specialized portions of the grants process, such as pre-award, post-award, monitoring and evaluation, corporate and social foundations ,etc.

Working together, this team will be responsible for project development, proposal submission, and M&E support and reporting.

Other duties will include documenting payments and expenditure, optimizing the grant administration process, preparing narrative and financial progress reports, ensuring compliance with grant regulations, other duties as assigned. This position requires “big picture” grant conceptualization, a high level of organization, team-building and communication skills, the ability to delegate and manage work in a fast paced, deadline-oriented environment, and the ability to prepare and understand grant budgets. It’s very important the SGC has a high level of emotional intelligence and self-awareness, an attitude of servant leadership (as described in Philippians 2), the ability to develop and add value to those within his/her professional circle of influence, and the conviction to conduct all business in a Christ-like manner.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Overseeing and managing entire grants process through leadership of Grants Team.
  • Perform prospect research to meet quarterly goals.
  • Work with Director of Grants/Grants Administration to diversify and advance funding with new grants.
  • Leading teams of grant professionals to accomplish.
  • Keep up-to-date with grants/professional best practices, collaborate with the Director to introduce them into CCO grants department.
  • Develop strong, positive relationships with funders, in-country partners, IPOs and other staff.
  • Travel 10-20% of the time.
  • Work with IPOs and other co-workers to establish and implement SOPs that are mutually agreed-upon and beneficial to all.
  • Other departmental duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Require/Preferred:

  • Ability to work with diverse teams; flexibility in working with diverse cultures.
  • Ability to dedicate approximately 10-20% of work time to travel.
  • Accuracy; ability to work within deadlines.
  • Computer literacy and proficiency in MS Office; familiarity with databases and basic software.
  • Self-motivated, detail oriented and highly organized.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.

Experience Requirements:

  • A relationship with Jesus Christ & advocate of integral human development.
  • Five or more years of grant writing experience, preferably with the preparation of international relief and development grant proposals, ideally with other faith-based ministries.
  • At least five years in a leadership position.
  • Strong command of the English language; fluent in Spanish and/or French &/or Creole strongly preferred.

Education or Certification Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in Nonprofit Management, Missions, English or equivalent grants and program development Master’s degree preferred.
