St. John Bosco Rehabilitation Center
At St. John Bosco Rehabilitation Center, children receive nutritious meals, as well as medical care, education, and enriching spiritual formation.
Large percentages of Kenyan children suffer from anemia and stunting. Hunger threatens to keep these children trapped in pain and poverty for the rest of their lives… Thankfully, partners like St. John Bosco Rehabilitation Center are fighting to give them a future.
Founded by the Diocese of Kitale, this ministry provides integral support for children living in camps outside of Kitale, Kenya. By providing nutritious meals, medical care, education and spiritual formation, St. John Bosco Rehabilitation Center changes young lives and sets them on the path to victory.

His father left, and his mother fell ill — so at just 9 years old, Michael Ekhale was begging for food on the busy streets of Kitale. St. John Bosco Rehabilitation Center was able to reach Michael with mercy and meals, but many children remain in urgent need.

Vitafood is the generic name for all of Cross Catholic Outreach’s specially formulated meal packs, which are designed to meet the needs of the malnourished.
Each pack of Vitafood has three main components: a rice or lentil base, a protein (usually soy or beans) and key vitamins to energize, strengthen and improve the health of malnourished children and families.
Vitafood meal packs are extremely flexible. They come in several different varieties and can be prepared with additional spices or ingredients to suit local tastes. No matter how it is prepared, Vitafood’s nutritional value remains the same, providing the optimal balance of vitamins, minerals, protein, fiber, fat and carbohydrates that hungry bodies need.
Cross Catholic Outreach shipped 24.2 million Vitafood meals to feed the hungry through Catholic ministries around the world in Fiscal Year 2020.
