St. John Paul II created the Populorum Progressio Foundation in 1992 to serve poor families in Latin America and the Caribbean. Today, Pope Francis continues this mission of hope — but the Church needs your help to meet urgent needs. Together, we can empower children and families with clean water, food, microenterprise and medical care.
The Church needs your support for 14 critical development and relief projects in seven Latin American countries.
Cross Catholic Outreach is a Vatican-endorsed official Catholic ministry. Since 2019, we’ve sponsored more than 70 Populorum Progressio Foundation projects, impacting thousands of impoverished families. All projects are vetted by Latin American bishops and follow our high standards of financial accountability.
In the Jural district of Cabo de Santo Agostinho, Brazil, poor sugarcane farmers lack access to clean drinking water. This project would drill a well in a centralized area, providing families with safe water year-round.
This project would provide 50 families in Medina, Colombia, with seeds, tools, and organic fertilizer to grow vegetable gardens. Your support would prevent malnutrition in an area where nearly 75% of the population falls below the poverty line.
Help the poor for the commandment’s sake, and in their need do not send them away empty-handed. Sirach 29:9

Proceeds from this campaign will be used to cover any expenditures incurred through June 30, 2022, the close of our ministry’s fiscal year. In the event that more funds are raised than needed to fully fund the project, the excess funds, if any, will be used to meet the most urgent needs of the ministry.
