Rev. Timothy Akanson

Father Timothy Akanson was ordained a priest for the Archdiocese of Tamale in Ghana on Aug. 6, 1988.  In addition to celebrating daily and weekend Masses, his pastoral ministry in the Diocese of Charleston focuses on daily visits to the sick and homebound.  He also celebrates the Mass at correctional and high-security facilities, providing the hope of the Gospel to those who feel isolated and unwanted by society.  His ministry in Ghana included the organization of spiritual retreats for Catholic medical and paramedic personnel.

Fr. Akanson is passionate about his ministry to the most vulnerable populations and feels blessed to be an Outreach Priest for Cross Catholic Outreach, where he can carry out his ministry of the preferential option for serving Christ’s poor.
