Fr. Peter Igwilo, B.C.C., M.A., M.Ed., Ph.D., is a priest of the Catholic Diocese of Ekwulobia, Nigeria, and was ordained to the priesthood in 1992. As the priest chaplain/senior priest in charge of Catholic Ministry in the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Wilmington, Delaware, Fr. Peter enjoys the full faculties of the Catholic Diocese of Wilmington, Delaware, and assists in ministries as needed.
Fr. Peter pastored for 10 years in two churches in Nigeria, where he arranged the construction of a new parish and parish hall, established a nursery and primary schools, and managed the renovation of a hospital on the parish premises. In August 2002, he was sent on a mission assignment to the United States by his bishop.
Fr. Peter currently works for the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Wilmington, Delaware, with the affiliation and faculties of the Archdiocese of the Military Services. He is a priest chaplain in the chaplain service of the hospital, where he specializes in post-traumatic stress disorder and moral injuries.
He believes that the opportunity of being an Outreach Priest for Cross Catholic Outreach will enhance his ministry, allowing him to share the Word of God to the remotest of places and to help the poor.
