Father Steve LaCanne is a priest of the Archdiocese of Saint Paul and Minneapolis. He attended St. Thomas University and St. Paul Seminary. Since being ordained in 1976, Fr. Steve has served parishes as pastor and associate pastor and has been involved in hospital chaplaincy for more than 47 years. He grew up on a small dairy farm near Faribault, Minnesota, and is the seventh of eleven children.
Fr. Steve has a passion for serving the sick, the suffering and the dying, as well as those on the margins of society who lack access to life’s most basic necessities. He says that “healing the wounds of those who are emotionally, mentally and physically poor continues the healing ministry of Jesus Christ.” This, he believes, is core to the Gospel.
Fr. Steve refers to his retirement as “re-firement” — not a time to “do less”, but an opportunity to serve those most in need through our missions and beyond. He also continues assisting parishes in the Twin Cities and the Archdiocese of Miami. We are blessed to have Fr. Steve serving the poorest of the poor through Cross Catholic Outreach.
