Father Ogbuagu is the vice president of mission integration at HCA Florida Mercy Hospital in Miami, FL, the only Catholic hospital in South Florida, and also serves as chaplain at Baptist Hospital of South Florida. He is fluent in seven languages, among them Spanish and Italian. Fr. Ogbuagu received a master of public administration from Bridgewater State University in Bridgewater, MA, in 2014, and holds bachelor’s degrees in theology and philosophy from Pontifical Urban University in Rome. He also holds a diploma in journalism and continuing education from the Duns Scotus School of Journalism, via the Institute of Journalism in Nigeria.
Much of Fr. Ogbuagu’s ministry has focused on the health care community. He has held posts at Bon Secours Mercy Health in Youngstown, OH, and is a member of the Catholic Health Association of the United States. He has also served as chaplain at Tri-County Correctional Facility in Warren, OH, and St. Vincent Hospital in Worcester, MA. He was the Diocese of Erie’s canon lawyer from 2008 to 2009.
