May 01, 2026 – Before Pope Francis passed away, he said he wanted his popemobile to be used after his death to benefit those who are poor or vulnerable. This week it was gifted to the U.S.-based Catholic relief and development organization, Cross Catholic Outreach, which is turning it into a “Hopemobile” and taking it cross-country to raise funds, foster prayer and promote the Church’s mission.

Apr. 30, 2026 – The popemobile, the pope’s special vehicle, will begin a charity tour of the United States. On Wednesday at the Vatican, representatives of the Dicastery for the Service of Charity and Cross Catholic Outreach launched the “American Catholic Heroes: The Road Trip for Hope” initiative.

Apr. 29, 2026 – The Dicastery for the Service of Charity is supporting an initiative by the charitable organization “Cross Catholic Outreach” aimed at assisting children affected by armed conflict. The Pope’s vehicle will travel across the United States to draw attention to the reality faced by war victims, while also offering moments of prayer and reflection.

Apr. 29, 2026 – Following the launch of an initiative promoted by the Dicastery for the Service of Charity to assist children affected by war, the President of Cross Catholic Outreach reflects on the charitable organization’s 25 years of service to the poor and vulnerable, and on its “Road Trip for Hope” project involving a popemobile donated by the Dicastery itself on behalf of the Pope.

Apr. 06, 2026 – The Catholic Diocese of Chipata has handed over a newly constructed ablution block to Namseche Correctional Facility in Chipata, aimed at improving sanitation and living conditions for inmates.

Speaking during the handover Mass, Bishop Lungu describes the project, constructed at a cost of about six hundred thousand kwacha with support from Cross Catholic Outreach, as a symbol of care, respect, and commitment to human dignity for both inmates and officers.
