Rev. Philip Ley, OFM, Conv.

Church & School > Host a Priest > Meet the Priests

Fr. Ley was born in Fort Wayne, Indiana and received his formal education in the Catholic schools of his parish. Before entering seminary, he graduated from college with a Bachelor of Education majoring in Spanish. He joined the Franciscans in 1978 and completed theological studies at the Oblate School of Theology in San Antonio, Texas.

Fr. Ley served his first eight years in New Mexico and from 1991 to 1993 in El Paso. He then moved on to wider fields, serving in missions in Honduras and El Salvador for a total of seven years.

Since 2001, Fr. Ley has worked with undocumented immigrants in Northeast Indiana and, more recently, assumed the directorship of the Franciscan house of formation in San Antonio.

Fr. Ley’s life is evidence of his commitment to the less fortunate. Cross Catholic Outreach is privileged to have him on its Outreach Priest team.
