Farming & Loans

Many people in poor communities desperately want to be able to support themselves and their families, but they lack the resources to move beyond subsistence-level labor. We partner with local ministries around the world to provide microenterprise opportunities that help families escape deep poverty and pursue a more prosperous future. During our 2023 fiscal year for example, we blessed more than 3,000 hardworking individuals with microloans to start or expand their small businesses. Join us this year as we empower more families to break free from the cycle of poverty.

Other especially vulnerable women the Brothers of Good Works seek to help include those who bear the stigma of having worked in prostitution — typically an act of desperation — and those who have been forcibly deported back to Ethiopia from the Middle East. The latter are part of a systemic problem in which vulnerable Ethiopian women are isolated, exploited and abused and then abandoned to difficult circumstances with little to no job opportunities.

The Brothers of Good Works Women Empowerment Center lifts these women out of despair by providing the tools and resources they need to thrive. This includes offering business skills training and microloans to help them engage in income-generating activities.

The program also includes health support to ensure the women gain access to medical care and HIV testing and treatment, as well as an education component focused on reducing stigma, educating them on their rights, and increasing community awareness of topics affecting at-risk women.

Join us in showing these women the mercy of Christ by helping them become more self-sufficient individuals who don’t have to resort to begging or prostitution for their bread.

We are a Catholic ministry that partners with bishops, priests, religious and lay workers to provide food, water & health, housing, kids & education, women & girls, disaster relief, farming & loans opportunities and the love of our Lord Jesus Christ to the poor and vulnerable in over 30 countries around the world.

We meticulously honor the intent of our donors. All proceeds are restricted for the specific project for which they are raised, along with the fundraising and administrative expenses of that project. For each dollar you earmark for a specific project, about 83 cents goes directly to the project, while the remaining 17 cents goes to fundraising and administrative expenses for that project. Out of the combined total of all cash and material goods donated to Cross Catholic Outreach in a typical year, about 95% goes directly to programs that help the poor and vulnerable.

Donations from this campaign will be used to cover any expenditures for this project incurred through June 30, 2025, the close of our ministry’s fiscal year. In the event that more funds are raised than needed to fully fund the project, the excess funds, if any, will be used to meet the most urgent needs of the ministry.
