Homes

Many of the world’s poor live in crumbling mud homes or other fragile, leaky shelters. Those makeshift houses offer no protection from the rain or vermin and can easily be destroyed by natural disasters like hurricanes or earthquakes. They also provide little privacy or security and require frequent repairs. During the 2023 fiscal year, friends like you helped us build or repair 488 homes for more than 3,100 people in need. This year, join us in giving even more families a safe place to lay their heads by supporting the efforts of our frontline ministry partners around the world.

When staff from Cross Catholic Outreach discovered the impact of these hardships on the elderly in Punta Gorda, Belize, we sought ways to help. We discovered that Church leaders in the area were eager to deal with a crisis in elder care through a ministry called HOPE (Helping Older People Equally), but they needed financial support to provide those services. The goal of HOPE is to promote the physical, mental, and social well-being of the elderly and to do so in a caring environment.

One way HOPE serves the elderly is by repairing and upgrading the deteriorating homes of the frail elderly. They replace leaky roofs and rotting walls, install sturdy steps, and even add features to make the homes more handicapped-accessible. Your generous gift to Cross Catholic Outreach will help cover the cost of materials and labor so vulnerable elders can be blessed with greatly needed home improvements. Through your support, elderly men and women will be able to enjoy greater safety, health, comfort, and mobility.

Please, help local Church leaders ease the burden of poverty on the elderly. Your gift will empower them to honor the dignity of those precious men and women in ways that reflect the love of Christ!

We are a Catholic ministry that partners with bishops, priests, religious and lay workers to provide food, water & health, housing, kids & education, women & girls, disaster relief, farming & loans opportunities and the love of our Lord Jesus Christ to the poor and vulnerable in over 30 countries around the world.

We meticulously honor the intent of our donors. All proceeds are restricted for the specific project for which they are raised, along with the fundraising and administrative expenses of that project. For each dollar you earmark for a specific project, about 83 cents goes directly to the project, while the remaining 17 cents goes to fundraising and administrative expenses for that project. Out of the combined total of all cash and material goods donated to Cross Catholic Outreach in a typical year, about 95% goes directly to programs that help the poor and vulnerable.

Donations from this campaign will be used to cover any expenditures for this project incurred through June 30, 2025, the close of our ministry’s fiscal year. In the event that more funds are raised than needed to fully fund the project, the excess funds, if any, will be used to meet the most urgent needs of the ministry.
