Despite the fact that modern medical advances now allow us to cure Hansen’s disease (also known as leprosy), the social stigma surrounding the malady remains a problem, especially in developing countries like the Philippines.
Even after the disease has been cured, the afflicted are still thought of as “lepers” and a risk to the community. Completely healthy children and grandchildren who choose to join their relatives in the Tala Leper Colony find themselves separated from society and cut off from educational opportunities. The Franciscan Missionaries of Mary and the Salesians of Don Bosco provide full scholarships for the young men of Tala to attend Don Bosco Catholic Technical School, in career fields such as automotive repair and electronics. Your gift can help cover tuition and room and board for students and potentially rescue an entire family from a lifetime of poverty.
In everything we do, we remain focused on the Lord, serving with humility, fervor and love, and advancing Catholic evangelization. We work in partnership with church-based ministries and other faith-based organizations, creating an ideal synergy for the greatest impact.
Giving monthly is a small way to have a big impact. Your regular support empowers our ministry to respond to urgent needs and fulfill our long-term projects across the world.
Become a Cross Mission Partner today and experience the joy of changing lives every month through your gift.
At Cross Catholic, we meticulously honor the intent of our donors. All proceeds are restricted for the specific project for which they are raised. In that rare event that more funds are received than are required for a specific project, the additional funds will be used to meet the most urgent needs.
When you select an aid project, your donation to that project will be used to cover any expenditures for the project incurred through June 30, 2023, the close of our ministry's fiscal year. In the event that more funds are raised than needed to fully fund the project, the excess funds, if any, will be used to meet the most urgent needs of the ministry.
