In developing countries, many poor families have had to live without safe shelter for generations. Parents and their children crowd into one-room shacks made out of sticks, discarded plastic or metal sheets, scrap lumber and cardboard, with no plumbing or electricity. These homes are not secure from bad weather, vermin or intruders, leaving families vulnerable and susceptible to illness.
Cross Catholic Outreach believes dignified housing is critical to a family’s health, well-being and overall transformation. That’s why we empower ministries in developing countries to provide safe shelter. Long-term, secure housing has the potential to change the standard of living for generations to come. Provide safe shelter and change the world — one family at a time!
Join Cross Catholic Outreach as we continue our ambitious campaign to build and repair homes worldwide. Your gift helps ministries like Answering the Cry of the Poor (ANCOP) in the Philippines transform entire neighborhoods into rows of safe concrete houses (pictured above). Help build new homes, repair existing ones, and provide safe shelter in other critical ways — restoring dignity, ensuring security and increasing optimism.
ANCOP is the humanitarian arm of Couples for Christ (CFC). This Vatican-recognized lay organization is devoted to “bringing Christ’s transforming love to the poor.”
In the Philippines, ANCOP replaces dilapidated shanties with rows of safe, concrete houses. These improved neighborhoods increase residents’ stability and peace of mind, and instill a renewed sense of motivation and self-worth within their hearts.
Beneficiaries invest time and labor throughout the construction process. A 12-week Christian Life Program helps strengthen their Catholic faith and values, enriching the newly formed community with the love and peace of Christ.
In the Philippines, poor families often live in small shanties that provide little protection.
Your support will help ANCOP transform entire neighborhoods to rows of safe concrete homes.
Emman Arimado works long days to provide for his wife and sons, but his income as a day laborer in the Philippines is not high enough to improve his family’s living conditions. The family lived in treacherous conditions, and his wife and baby were always sick from the leaky roof and the home’s vulnerability to storms.
Emman and his family became involved in Couples for Christ, transforming their family and spiritual life. Your help will provide families like his with a fresh start through safe shelter and spiritual transformation!
“ I really strive to ensure we have food and other basic needs, but having a sturdier house is something we can only dream of. ”
