Delivering food, shelter, and hope to the poorest of the poor
Nearly 2 in 3 children in Ukraine have been forced to flee their homes. The children pictured here are being served by our Catholic ministry partner, Caritas in Veritate, at a shelter in Ukraine for internally displaced families.
Families are in desperate need of material and spiritual aid
The war in Ukraine is evolving fast, and millions of families had to flee their homes and communities in a desperate attempt to survive. More than half of these displaced families include children and the elderly, and as they seek shelter in makeshift camps, many worry if they will have enough food and water — or a safe place to sleep.
With your help, Cross Catholic Outreach will rush food, water, sanitary kits, ambulances and other relief where it is needed most. Your generosity will empower a network of Catholic partners, including Cardinal Konrad Krajewski of the Office of Papal Charities and those working at shelters the Ukrainian communities of Lutsk, Struga and Nowa Uszyca.
Join us now in this important outreach. You can relieve the fears of Ukraine’s families and show them God’s love in this crisis.
Vatican Cardinal Shares Pope’s Blessing for Ukraine Aid
Pope Francis has imparted a special Apostolic Blessing for Cross Catholic Outreach and its supporters in recognition of the ministry’s support of Ukraine’s children and families.
In a letter from the Vatican, Cardinal Krajewski wrote:
“I carry with this venerable gift the thanks of Pope Francis himself for this concrete support of his pastoral initiative and [the Holy Father] imparts to your ministry a special Apostolic Blessing for grace and divine consolation that from his heart he imparts to you and all the staff of Cross Catholic Outreach.”
Your support will extend the Holy Father’s blessing as we work together to lift up Ukraine’s families.
Cross Catholic Outreach supporters are making an incredible impact in Ukraine and Eastern Europe. Join us today to help the Church make an even bigger difference for families in need.
Global impact disproportionately affects poor families
The war in Ukraine has generated mass population displacement, with more than 1 in 4 Ukrainians fleeing their homes in just a matter of weeks. As the overall situation continues to deteriorate, the United Nations warns of looming food insecurity — with a strong likelihood of emergency levels of hunger and malnutrition due to supply chain disruptions. Globally, food price increases could push as many as 10 million people into poverty.
Cross Catholic Outreach’s partners in Ukraine and Eastern Europe are dedicated to upholding the dignity of refugees and displaced families. With your help, we can help our partners rush much-needed supplies, including nutritious food and clean water, to protect families from malnutrition.
Cardinal Konrad Krajewski — Office of Papal Charities
As the Papal Almoner, Cardinal Krajewski has boldly crossed into Ukraine several times since the war broke out to serve families in need. He has also personally delivered ambulances to hospitals in Ukraine in the name of the Holy Father and concelebrated Mass on Easter Sunday in the Cathedral in Kyiv.
Your support will empower Cardinal Krajewski and the Office of Papal Charities to continue providing relief — including generators, clothing and food — to families in Ukraine and refugees who have fled the country.
Caritas in Veritate
This global confederation of Catholic institutions is dedicated to bringing “charity in truth” by serving the world’s poor wherever they face discrimination. Right now, Caritas in Veritate has an active presence in Ukraine at three centers serving internally displaced children and families.
Your gift will provide much-needed food, water and spiritual support for Ukrainian families who have fled their homes.
Archdiocese of Przemyśl, Poland
The archdiocese is located near the Ukrainian border and is focused on the care and resettlement of refugees. So far, it has welcomed more than 620 refugees at its receiving centers.
Your help will empower the archdiocese to offer refugees food, shelter and trauma therapy while local partners help families secure living arrangements, employment and school for children.
Cross Catholic Outreach is an official Catholic ministry. We have a long history of standing with the Church to defend the world’s most vulnerable people during times of turmoil.
Our disaster relief responses have included building homes in Haiti after its 2010 and 2021 earthquakes, hurricane relief in Latin America and the Caribbean, medical support in Afghanistan, and delivering emergency food and medical supplies during the COVID-19 pandemic.
We consider it an honor and a privilege to intercede for our donors and their family members. If you or someone you love needs prayer, please fill out the form below. We would love to pray for you.
The Church calls us to stand in solidarity with the poor, especially in times of despair. With your support, we can provide a rapid response to our brothers and sisters in Ukraine who urgently need food, medicine and other critical supplies.
Bless our brothers and sisters in Ukraine who’ve lost everything in this crisis.
Proceeds from this campaign will be used to cover any expenditures incurred through June 30, 2023, the close of our ministry’s fiscal year. In the event that more funds are raised than needed to fully fund the project, the excess funds, if any, will be used to meet the most urgent needs of the ministry.
Our mission is to mobilize the global Catholic Church to transform the poor and their communities materially and spiritually for the glory of Jesus Christ. Your gift empowers us to serve the poorest of the poor by channeling life-changing aid through an international network of dioceses, parishes and Catholic missionaries. This cost-effective approach helps break the cycle of poverty and advance Catholic evangelization.
