Thank you for helping us empower the Church’s global mission to provide the poor and vulnerable with material aid and spiritual support. While obtaining the basic necessities of life remains a struggle for many, we celebrate the resilience and dedication of the Catholic priests, sisters and lay workers standing beside those in need so they do not have to face those challenges alone.
Through the efforts of the many in-country ministry partners we empower, needy individuals and families can find relief and are given opportunities to escape the hardships caused by extreme poverty. This blessing is only possible because compassionate Catholics like you have given generously in a spirit of Christlike love to meet urgent needs. We hope you are encouraged by this brief look at the projects you recently supported.
Thanks to friends like you who support health programs, we were able to ship millions of dollars in medicine and medical supplies to our trusted ministry partners serving the poor. We also funded health workers’ salaries and addressed critical needs such as infrastructure development so families in remote communities could access lifesaving care more easily.
One of our more recent efforts funded a mobile medical clinic in the Diocese of Karonga in Malawi that now provides health screenings for noncommunicable diseases. MacDonald, an elderly resident in the remote village of Kopakopa, received treatment from health volunteers and a mobile clinic team. They provided him with medicine needed for treatable conditions that, if left undiagnosed and untreated, would have otherwise claimed his life. MacDonald is grateful to the diocese for bringing the clinic to his doorstep.
Mozambique is mentioned in many reports about the global orphan and vulnerable children crisis because that country has very high HIV/AIDS rates and suffers from internal conflicts, which has led to additional adult fatalities and has left many children without adult guidance or supervision. A tragic number of these girls and boys end up living on the streets, dropping out of school and becoming vulnerable to sex traffickers and people exploiting children for cheap labor.
The Association Cross Mozambique (ACM) was created by Catholic women committed to loving and supporting the country’s orphans. This year, we funded ACM to provide scholarships for 218 orphans and more intensive support for those in the most high-risk situations.
This program has been a blessing for children like Paulina, who lost both parents to AIDS and lives with her grandparents, who are very poor. Through ACM, she receives nutritional, educational, medical and psychosocial support. Today, Paulina is a happy, well-behaved girl who enjoys sharing what she’s learned at school and in catechesis sessions, and she is grateful for your support!
Many of the world’s poor live in substandard housing that threatens their health and safety. To provide relief, a number of our partners have made it a priority to provide housing for the poor, and hundreds of families now live in those safer homes. In central Haiti, our friends at the Kobonal Haiti Mission used the gifts from friends like you to provide sturdy homes and other compassionate support to those in greatest need.
Mathieu was one of those blessed by that outreach. A poor farmer, he was living with his wife and children in a mud house with a thatch roof. Now, his family enjoys a dry, comfortable, four-room hurricane-resistant house with concrete walls and floors, a galvanized steel roof, solar electricity and lockable doors for increased security. Mathieu says he does not have enough words to thank God for the many ways the mission has helped his family — including through food distributions, Catholic schooling and economic empowerment programs.
FUNDASEP, the social outreach arm of the Diocese of San Juan de la Maguana, is currently engaged in a multiyear process of transformation for two rural areas in the Dominican Republic: Los Callejones and Las Lomas. One important component of this transformation is the installation of clean water systems for drinking and the irrigation of farmland.
Fran, a small-scale farmer, explained that a weak rainy season can dramatically reduce his crop yield and leave him in debt. Thanks to a program offered by FUNDASEP, Fran is now confident his harvests will become more profitable. That project includes the construction of a reservoir and irrigation systems that will allow Fran to plant various crops, increase his yield and boost his income. Fran and his community have been able to help with the construction of the reservoir, assisting with drilling, digging the trenches and installing the pipes. “We are very grateful to Cross Catholic Outreach, FUNDASEP, the church and the entire team that has been supporting us with this project.”

Donations from this campaign will be used to cover any expenditures for this project incurred through June 30, 2027, the close of our ministry’s fiscal year. In the event that more funds are raised than needed to fully fund the project, the excess funds, if any, will be used to meet the most urgent needs of the ministry.
