Delivering food, shelter, and hope to the poorest of the poor
Here at Cross Catholic we do many things to foster the “spirit of unity” Paul talks about in Romans 15:5 that is so crucial for successful works of charity in Christ’s name. Our daily staff devotional time is just one example of our unity-building activities.
Recently, we extended this idea to some of our ministry partners in the field. Representatives from the13 ministries we work with in Ethiopia met in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia’s capital city, for a three-day seminar hosted by our Africa Projects Officer Jim Kline.
In addition to individual meetings with Jim to discuss the challenges each ministry faces and the needs of their beneficiaries, the ministry partners met as a group to exchange ideas on how to serve the poor better. It was the first time that many of them had met each other.
Our Ethiopian ministry partners met with Africa Projects Officer Jim Kline for a three-day seminar in Addis Ababa. It was a great time of unity building for the ministries.
The session started with devotions, similar to the ones we do each morning at Cross Catholic. Then Jim discussed accountability practices and other capacity-building strategies with them, and the ministries also got a chance to introduce themselves and discuss the people they serve.
“It was a great time of fellowship,” Jim says. “The partners got to see areas where they maybe overlap and can help each other.”
The feedback from these ministries on the seminar was very positive, so much so that we are planning to extend the idea our ministry partners in other parts of the world, Jim says.
In these trying times, it is even more important that we believers work together to carry out the work of God’s kingdom. This session in Ethiopia was an excellent reminder of what can be gained when we work together in unity.
