Ana Aleman is a trusted Cross Catholic mission partner who tirelessly works to bring nutrition and God’s love to the poor in El Progreso, Honduras. She first came to Honduras more than 10 years ago on a short-term mission trip. Overwhelmed and convicted by the poverty she saw, God put a burden on her heart for the scores of malnourished children in the area.

That’s why we couldn’t help but notice that the Vatican has released a new statement about our Catholic duty to help children in need, and how this Advent and Christmas season should serve as a reminder of that holy calling:

During my recent trip to Haiti, I had the privilege of spending a breezy morning at Bethsaide Children’s Center in the seaside town of Jacmel. At Bethsaide, the love of Christ is palpable. This Cross Catholic-supported project provides a temporary home for seven girls from troubled, desperately poor families.
The mood was joyful, but the message sobering, as the kids at the Tete Center for Vulnerable Children & Adults welcomed Cross Catholic with music, dancing and drama.
