Sing Praise!

“Sing to him, make music for him, recount all his wonders!” Today’s reading from Psalms 105 reminds me of the precious children living at St. John Bosco Rehabilitation Center in Kitale, Kenya, a home and education program for street children.

Faith to Transform Lives

Last week Pope Benedict XVI began a new series of catecheses that will cover the Year of Faith, which he said is intended “to renew our enthusiasm at believing in Jesus Christ.” He went on to say this revival will, as a result, “bear concrete witness to the transforming power of the faith.”

Making a Splash

These boys are making use of the new lavatory Cross Catholic funded for Vilaj Espwa (Hope Village), a home for orphaned and vulnerable children in Haiti. The facility replaced pit latrines that were ready to retire.

Cheerful Givers

Here’s a video clip of parishioners joyfully worshiping together in the Tete province of Mozambique. They’ve come to sing, dance, pray and give of what little they have for the church offering. The scene reminds me of Psalm 100, “Shout for joy to the Lord, all the earth. Worship the Lord with gladness; come before him with joyful songs.”

At St. John Bosco Rehabilitation Center in Kitale, Kenya, 180 orphans and street children have the opportunity to receive a formal education in a loving Catholic environment. “Thanks to Cross Catholic Outreach’s support of St. John Bosco, these children become more mature.
