I just got back from central Haiti, an area with the country’s highest rates of malnutrition, poverty, fertility, and child & infant mortality. When our ministry partner there, Project Medishare, polled community members to gauge the greatest health problems, it was the men who said, “Too many of our women are dying in childbirth!”

Good news from Guyana

I just received good news from Guyana about a girl we’ve been helping there named Faye. She’d grown up in a really remote area of the country, several days journey from the city of Georgetown where I met her. Her poor single mom had died just two years earlier. At age 20 she was all on her own.

On Tuesday, I promised you a story of someone whose life was saved by the efforts of San Lucas Rural Health Project, a Cross Catholic-supported health outreach to rural mountain communities in Bolivia. Meet Sabina Ovideo, a 47-year-old woman whose life was threatened by a heart condition, but thanks to the efforts of the rural clinic she was saved!
