Thousands of pilgrims followed Pope Francis to Panama this weekend in honor of World Youth Day. Concluding his visit on Sunday, January 27, His Holiness encouraged young men and women, saying, “You, dear young people, are not the future but the now of God.”
Clean Water and Sanitation at Schools Remain a Challenge
Cross Catholic Outreach works through our Catholic ministry partners to help address the need for clean water and sanitation around the world. We not only provide wells and water systems to poor communities, we also fund critically needed latrines, septic systems, bathing facilities and community training in sanitation and hygiene.
Global State of Malnutrition Gets Worse
Cross Catholic Outreach believes no child should go to bed hungry, and that’s why we partner with Catholic feeding programs around the world.
U.S. and Guatemala Work Together
While U.S. and Guatemalan leaders work together to provide temporary shelter for displaced survivors of the Fuego Volcano eruption, Cross Catholic and its ministry partners have already moved forward with a permanent resettlement plan for 200 families.
Search for Volcano victims continues
The death toll from Guatemala’s Fuego volcano is at 112 and counting as the search continues for nearly 200 people who have still not been found. The powerful eruption swallowed entire communities, produced many orphans and homeless, and negatively impacted a total of more than 1.7 million Guatemalans.
Prayer Energizes Missions Most
In a video message to the Pontifical Missions Societies, Pope Francis called all Christians to be missionaries through prayer. He identifies prayer as “the first missionary work” – the responsibility of every believer as we work with the Holy Spirit to support the global Church and advance the Gospel.
