Renewed Hope

With the New Year just around the corner, many of us in the U.S. will be making our lists of New Year’s resolutions. As I contemplate my future hopes to work harder, give more, and worry less, I can’t help but think about a mother and son in rural Ethiopia that showed me what I should really strive for in 2012—a life of thankfulness.

Made in God’s Image

In a few words, Sr. Emma says it all: “God is marvelous. That is what I see when I look at the children.” I think that’s exactly what Jesus sees too – the handiwork of God -when he looks at the faces of the children at the Chisombezi Deaf-Blind Center in Malawi.

“Many Lives Have Been Changed Because of You!”

My name is Mwamba Mulenga. I am a double orphaned boy. This is how a letter began in a recent update from our ministry partners, the Franciscan Missionary Sisters of Assisi. Cross Catholic helps the sisters run five free Catholic primary schools that serve severely impoverished children in Luanshya, Zambia, a destitute region decimated by the decline of the copper mining industry and the AIDS epidemic.

Praise Report from Mozambique

Yesterday morning, Cross Catholic staff listened as International Projects Officer Tara McKinney shared photos and stories from the recent vision trip she led to Mozambique. One of her co-travelers, Cross Catholic staff member Maria Aleman, joined her in person while the other, Monsignor Lambert Luna from St. Joseph on the Rio Grande Catholic Church, joined us over the phone.
