After his recent trip to Ecuador, Cross Catholic Outreach Projects Officer Fernando Marquez shared some of his photos with our staff. This adorable, little girl particularly captured my heart.
Leaders in Christ’s Kingdom
When I first shake hands with sisters Mary and Jhovana, they appear much like average college students. They carry book bags and talk about their classes, and they are both about to graduate and head into the workforce armed with their degrees. Their quick smiles reveal their justified excitement.
A Teacher’s Heart
If I ever decide to pursue a second career in agronomy, I hope my professors are as dedicated as Desiderio Flores. Desiderio teaches classes in botany, weed control, and forage production at Carmen Pampa University, a Cross Catholic-sponsored school that is bringing educational opportunities to poor, indigenous communities in rural Bolivia.
Praise Report from Honduras
We have some good news to report! Our ministry partner in Honduras, a pediatric hospital called CURE Honduras, sent us the following story about a young boy named Junior, and it immediately touched my heart. Junior was born with a severe case of clubfoot and never received treatment when he was young.
Road Hazard
When Cross Catholic does projects in remote communities, just getting there is half the battle. You have to accept the fact that the roads will be too narrow, the hillsides will not have guardrails, and anything resembling asphalt will not exist.
How to be a good neighbor
At the remote village of Mina de Agua, I came across a dilapidated house that looked as if it might collapse into a pile of sticks before my eyes. Beside the house, an old woman lay on a mat in the sweltering midday heat, weak and struggling to speak coherently.
